Can women sit for I'tikaf in a mosque in the last ten days of Ramadan?

Praise be to Allah.

Yes, it is permissible for a woman to observe i’tikaf in the mosque during the last ten days of Ramadan.

Indeed, i'tikaf is Sunnah for both men and women, and the Mothers of the Believers (may Allah be pleased with them [i.e., the wives of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)] used to observe i’tikaf with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) during his lifetime, and after he passed away.

Al-Bukhari (2026) and Muslim (1172) narrated from ‘Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), the wife of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to spend the last ten nights of Ramadan in i'tikaf until he passed away, then his wives observed i'tikaf after he died.

It says in ‘Awn al-Ma'bud: “This indicates that women are the same as men when it comes to i'tikaf .”

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Aziz ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "I’tikaf is Sunnah for both men and women, because it was proven that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to observe i'tikaf during Ramadan, and finally he settled on i'tikaf during the last ten days, and some of his wives used to observe i'tikaf with him, then they observed i’tikaf after he died. The place for i'tikaf is the mosque in which prayers in congregation are performed."

And Allah knows best.

MY HUSBAND STOP ME FROM GOING TO THE MASJID:

𝑸𝑼𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵

if a woman wants to go to the masjid and her husband stops her, who is she to obey, is it for her to go to the masjid or not?

𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑾𝑬𝑹❗️

Alhamdulillah, if a woman wants to go to the masjid and her husband tells her not to go, she is to obey her husband as going to the masjid for a woman is not obligatory. it is Sunnah.

Salim narrated it from his father ('Abdullah b. Umar) that the Messenger of Allah () said:

When women ask permission for going to the mosque, do not prevent them. Sahih Muslim 442.

If a woman ask for permission to go to the masjid, one should not prevent her but if her husband does not allow her, she is to obey him as making obedience to him is obligatory..

Even if she is to go to the i'tikaf and her husband objects to it, she should obey him and should not go to i'tikaf.

But a woman is not allowed to prevent the woman from going to the masjid without a reason. If she observed her proper hijab, does not perfume, then he is to allowed her as doing so is obedience to the Sunnah.

May Allah s.w.t protects and safeguard us to the truth. Amiin
