Dreaming of Green Fields, Rain and Fish: What Does It Mean in Islam?

QUESTION ❓

Assalamu ‘alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

I had a dream that we were in a farm covered with green vegetation. A pathway had been prepared for people to pass through, and we were placed in a particular line. When it was my turn and I was alone, it began to rain.

Then I saw fish falling from the sky. A woman brought a bucket, and we began collecting the fish. The fish were large and in good condition.

I was also running through the water and seeing fish on the ground until I eventually returned.

I also dreamed about grinding soup ingredients with a blender.

What could this dream mean?

ANSWER ❗️

Wa ‘alaikumus-salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

May Allah reward you with goodness.

Before interpreting the details, it is important to remember that Islam does not provide a fixed interpretation for every object or scene that appears in a dream. Therefore, we should not say with certainty that green vegetation means wealth, rain means an answered prayer, or fish falling from the sky means that a particular amount of money will soon come to the dreamer.

The Prophet ﷺ explained that dreams are of different kinds.

He said:

«الرُّؤْيَا الصَّالِحَةُ مِنَ اللَّهِ، وَالْحُلْمُ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ»

Ar-ru’yā aṣ-ṣāliḥatu minallāh, wal-ḥulmu min ash-shayṭān.

“A good dream is from Allah, while a bad dream is from Satan.”

Sahih al-Bukhari, 6984; Sahih Muslim, 2261.

Some dreams may also arise from a person's thoughts, experiences, hopes and concerns while awake.

The Green Farm and the Path

Seeing a green and pleasant environment can certainly be experienced as something comforting and positive. However, there is no authentic text establishing that a green farm in a dream necessarily means prosperity, wealth or a particular future blessing.

Likewise, the prepared pathway may simply form part of the dream's imagery. It should not be presented as definite evidence that Allah has guaranteed the dreamer a particular future outcome.

If the dream left the person feeling peaceful and hopeful, she may take the pleasant feeling as something positive without claiming certainty about its interpretation.

The Rain

Rain is associated with Allah's mercy and provision in the Qur'an. Allah says:

وَهُوَ الَّذِي يُنَزِّلُ الْغَيْثَ مِن بَعْدِ مَا قَنَطُوا وَيَنشُرُ رَحْمَتَهُ

Wa huwa alladhī yunazzilu al-ghaytha min ba‘di mā qanaṭū wa yanshuru raḥmatah.

“And He is the One who sends down rain after they have despaired and spreads His mercy.”

Qur’an 42:28

However, this does not mean that rain appearing in a dream is automatically a prediction of a forthcoming blessing or an answered supplication.

It is better to regard the scene positively while leaving its specific meaning to Allah.

Fish Falling from the Sky

The sight of large fish falling from the sky is unusual and memorable, but there is no authentic Qur'anic or Prophetic text establishing that such a dream specifically means financial wealth or unexpected money.

Fish do appear in Islamic texts in other contexts. For example, fish and the sea are mentioned in connection with Allah's provision and lawful food, but these texts do not establish a universal dream symbolism in which fish always represent money.

Therefore, it would be speculative to tell the dreamer that the large fish definitely mean that she will soon receive substantial wealth.

The act of collecting the fish could simply be part of the dream's narrative. If the dream made her feel happy, she may hope for good from Allah without treating it as a guaranteed prophecy.

Running Through the Water

Running through water while seeing fish may likewise reflect the dreamer's emotions, experiences, hopes or concerns.

There is no authentic evidence that this particular combination necessarily signifies success, financial opportunities or the fulfilment of a specific goal.

Dream interpretation should therefore remain cautious rather than turning every detail into a definite prediction.

Grinding Soup Ingredients with a Blender

The same applies to the blender.

There is no established Islamic teaching that using a blender in a dream means that difficulties will be quickly resolved or that wealth will be processed wisely.

It may simply reflect ordinary experiences or thoughts from daily life, particularly if the person regularly cooks or uses such appliances.

What Should the Dreamer Do?

If the dream was pleasant and made her happy, she may praise Allah and hope for good.

She should also continue making du‘a, working toward her legitimate goals and thanking Allah for His blessings.

But she should not make important financial, marital, career or other life decisions solely because of this dream.

If the dream was disturbing rather than pleasant, she should follow the Sunnah: seek refuge in Allah from Satan, lightly spit to her left three times, turn to the other side and avoid spreading the disturbing dream.

Conclusion

This dream contains several pleasant images—green vegetation, rain, water and abundant fish—and therefore there is nothing wrong with receiving it with hope and optimism.

However, there is no authentic Islamic evidence allowing us to say with certainty that these symbols mean that the dreamer will soon receive wealth, that her prayers will definitely be answered, or that a specific event will occur.

The safest approach is to hope for good, continue praying to Allah, pursue good deeds and leave the unseen to Allah.
