Dua Of Breaking The Fast

𝑸𝑼𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵❓

What supplication did the prophet use to make when breaking the fast? When should the supplications of breaking the fast be made? and Desirably, what should be taken to break the fast?

𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑾𝑬𝑹❗️

In a hadith Abdullah Ibn Umar narrated that the prophet used to say after breaking the fast

ذَهَبَ الظَّمَأُ، وَابْتَلَّتِ الْعُرُوقُ، وَثَبَتَ الْأَجْرُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّه

MEANING: Gone is the thirst and the arteries are wetted and, Allah willing, the reward is certain.

After reciting this supplication, a person should then pray for his needs in this word and the hereafter, because this is an hour when supplications are granted. One should therefore not be neglectful of it and should make supplications to Allah the most Exalted, even in his own language.

 It is desirable to break the fast with fresh date, if it is not available then dried dates a drink of water. It is also desirable to take an odd number of dates. In a hadith narrated by Anas Ibn Malik he said

كان رسول الله صلي الله عليه و سلم يفطر علي رطبات قبل أن يصلي فإن لم تكن رطبات فعلى تمرات فإن لم تكن حسا حسوات من ماء

MEANING: the messenger used to break his fast with fresh ripe dates befor praying, if he did not get fresh dates, he will take dried dates, and if he did not get dried dates he will take a drink of water.

Supplications of breaking the fast should be done immediately after breaking the fast and not before it, because delaying the fast break and engaging in supplications is contrary to the sunnah. Therefore, it is desirable to break the fast as soon as possible.
